Apparently the ten shortlisted writers for the Good Housekeeping Novel Competition were contacted this afternoon.
Ten ecstatic people – and something like four thousand deeply disappointed ones!
I’d got quite hopeful about that competition, thinking my opening chapters promising, however my synopsis was written in a rush and I knew it was second-rate. Lesson learned: never send out anything but the polished best.
Time for chocolate and red wine…
I was so sorry to read this, Maggie. It’s a great novel. Keep going, get it finished, and start sending it out to agents. There’s a market for your book – and I’m sure someone will spot that soon.
I am not downhearted. The deadline was looming when I composed my synopsis and I hadn’t really worked the plot out properly. I have now. So the Bridport will get the benefit of the improved package. Lucky them!
