Many congratulations to Briony Collins who yesterday won the Exeter Novel Award with her wonderful-sounding civil rights novel Raise Them Up. Here she is sitting next to Sarah (front row, second from right).
Our lovely judge was Broo Doherty of DHH Agency. If you’d like to see her thoughts on the six shortlisted novels, go to: http://www.creativewritingmatters.co.uk/2016-enp-award-ceremony-and-judges-report.html
Beauty, as well as talent. Congratulations to Briony Collins, and to our own Sarah, for their entries to the Exeter Novel Award. This is a hotly contested competition, so winning – and getting on the short list – are mightily impressive.
I have to say, of all the novels described, yours is the one I’d most want to read. I hope some agents were there! And that is a lush trophy…have you placed it in the sunshine somewhere to sparkle? I hope you’re sparkling too – you’re a star.

Thanks so much, Maggie and CG, for lovely comments.
So many congratulations on this achievement! And maybe we should all adopt Dawson as our pseudonym, as that seems to be a mark of novelistic talent.
