The HWA Dorothy Dunnett Short Story Competition 2023. The Historical Writers’ Association and the Dorothy Dunnett Society are inviting entries of original, unpublished short stories set at least 35 years in the past. The winner will receive £500 and their story will be published in Whispering Gallery and on http://www.historiamag.com Two runners-up will receive mentoring and all six shortlisted entries will be published as an ebook/print on demand book by the HWA and Dorothy Dunnett Society. Each shortlisted writer will receive two copies and £25. Enter original, unpublished short fiction up to 3,500 words. Entry fee £5. The King Lear 2023 Prizes 2023 is a national creative competition for the over-65’s in the fields of art, poetry and short story, with separate categories for beginners and experiences amateurs. Over £3,000 of cash prizes for winners and shortlistees, and certificates for Highly Commended entries. £5 per entry to cover costs. King’s Coronation themed works encouraged, but not required.
