Here are some suggestions for the month of June:-

Creative Mind Art & Society Writing Competition 2024 is looking for short stories and poetry on any aspect of art and society. Short stories up to 900 words and poems up to 40 lines. The ‘art and society’ theme may be explored from any angle. There are prizes of ~£50, £30 and £20 in each category and all entries will be considered for an anthology. Wells Festival of Literature 2024 International Competitions has four categories. Open Poetry with a 1st prize of £1,000 and second and third prizes of £500 and £250., plus £100 for the best local poet. Unpublished poems up to 35 lines. Entry fee £6. Short Story for unpublished stories between 1,000 and 2,000 words. Prizes: £750, £300 and £200, with local prize of £100. Entry fee £6. Book for Children. Enter the first two chapters or twenty pages and a two-page synopsis. For a book for children from age 7 to YA. Entry fee: £6. Closing date 30 June. 2024 BCSA Writing Competition invites entries either on the suggested theme – “Discovering a New Country” – which is inspired by the 100th anniversary of the publication of Karl Capek’s Letters from England, or on any aspect of the links between Britain and the lands now comprising the Czech and Slovak Republics or society in the Republics since 1989. The theme can be interpreted in any way, either fact or fiction, and entries should be between 1,500 and 2,000 words. The first prize is £400 and there is a second prize of £150. Bath Flash Fiction Award June 2024 (which runs three times a year) is given for original, unpublished short fiction up to 300 words. The winner will receive £1,000 and there are second and third prizes of £300 and £100. Two commendations each get £30. Fifty longlisted entrants will be offered digital anthology publication. Moth Short Story Prize 2024 is for unpublished fiction up to 3,000 words. First Prize 3,000 Euros, second prize writing retreat at Circle of Misse and a travel stipend, and third prize 1,000 Euros. The winning story will be published in the Irish Times as part of its summer fiction series and the second and third prize will be published in the Irish Times on-line. Entry fee 15 Euros per story.
